The Market-to-Midtown Bikeway Pilot Project is ending as utility relocations related the Omaha streetcar are set to begin. The pilot project on Harney Street, from 10th Street to Dewey Avenue, closed on September 3, 2024. Cyclists are encouraged to utilize alternative routes depicted on the map below.
Metro Smart Cities constructed this temporary protected bikeway as a pilot project in order to collect and analyze data pertaining to street ridership behavior. The pilot project supported safer and more attractive ridership options for people riding bikes and scooters across the region. Data collection and analysis shows that ridership has increased along the pilot route and this type of infrastructure could be supported on a larger scale, which led to Market-to-Midtown 2.0. To view the data from the pilot, check out the One-Year Evaluation Report.
