This page refers to the completed pilot project on Harney Street. Visit the Market-to-Midtown Bikeway 2.0 page to learn more about planning and design for a permanent bikeway along this route.
In an effort to support safer and more attractive ridership options for people riding bikes and scooters across the region, Metro Smart Cities constructed this protected bikeway as a pilot project in order to collect and analyze data pertaining to street ridership behavior. Data collection and analysis shows that ridership has increased along the pilot route and this type of infrastructure could be supported on a larger scale, which led to Market-to-Midtown 2.0. To view the data from the pilot, check out the One-Year Evaluation Report.
The Market-to-Midtown Bikeway Pilot stretches from 10th Street to Dewey Avenue on Harney Street in Omaha. It is in the same location as the streetcar route from 10th Street to Turner Boulevard and will be removed when the streetcar is put in place. A new bikeway is in planning and design phases to support riders on this Market-to-Midtown route.
