Create a unified transportation application that would allow for seamless payment for the use of various transportation options, including parking.
The app/service would allow users to select the type of trip they are interested in, i.e. — shortest, cheapest, simplest, most convenient, least polluting, etc. It would then provide the route, align the modes and distribute the revenue to the providers, including the infrastructure providers. So someone may be directed to walk to the nearest bus stop, ride the bus to another stop, and pick up a B-cycle for the last leg. Or they could summon an autonomous vehicle to pick them up and take them directly to their destination. It’s important to note that this application will also allow for payments to all be made within one application.
How is this being paid for?
The cost of the dashboard was built into a grant for communication efforts of the Metro Smart Cities project and was funded philanthropically.
A city-wide project that would provide all Omahans a resource to complement the current Park Omaha app.
If it takes two to tango, we’re dancing our way to a whole new way of looking at transportation and mobility in Omaha. Our partners are integral to this work and there’s just no way we’d ever get to experience this projects without them. A big curtsy and bow and round of applause to all of them!
[Thad has revision to remove the second “partners” heading below.]
Once you’ve tried the Market to Midtown Bikeway, we’d appreciate your feedback!
The information you provide will help us determine if permanent protected bikeway infrastructure would be beneficial if built across the region at a larger scale.
