Create a unified transportation application that would allow for seamless payment for the use of various transportation options, including parking.
The app/service would allow users to plan, select, and pay for the type of trip they are interested in, i.e. — shortest, cheapest, simplest, most convenient, least polluting, etc. It would then provide the route, align the modes and distribute the revenue to the providers, including the infrastructure providers. So someone may be directed to walk to the nearest bus stop, ride the bus to another stop, and pick up a B-cycle for the last leg. Or they could summon an autonomous vehicle to pick them up and take them directly to their destination. It’s important to note that for equal access for all citizens this type of platform could also utilize pre-paid fare cards.
How is this being paid for?
The cost of the dashboard was built into a grant for communication efforts of the Metro Smart Cities project and was funded philanthropically.
Location
A city-wide project that would provide all Omahans a resource to complement the current Park Omaha app.
